The following are images from three days I spent in Beijing, China. This was a spur-of-the-moment trip I made with a friend from Seattle. If you want the full scoop, click here for the full narrative.

A panorama of Tiananmen Square - location of the 1989 student riots. What you don't see here is the McDonald's that 100 yards away.

OK, no more complaints that I'm not in any of the pictures from my trips.

My travelling companion Brian - just to prove I don't always go on these things alone.

Me in front (back actually if you follow the tour line) of Mao's Tomb (the Maosoleum).

Brian did the honor of "renting" the fake flowers for the 30 feet from the stand to where you leave them in the entrance.

A panorama of the first large courtyard area inside the Forbidden City.

One of the various throne rooms, each was used for a different specific purpose and a specific time of year.

An example of the intricate detail in the interior of most of the buildings in the Forbidden City. This was a roof in one of the entrance areas.

A panorama of the northern part of Beijing from JinJang Park, one of the highest points in the city.

The outside of the main Lama Temple building - inside is a 60 foot golden Buddha, unfortunately no cameras allowed.

An "arty" shot of the Temple of Heaven. Big round buildings, big square bases. This is because, as everyone knows, heaven is round and earth is square.

A shot from the balcony of my hotel room. Every morning at around 7 am this group would gather on the street below and do Tai Chi.

Brian and I with some very well chilled Chinese schoolgirls. The rest are some of the better pix I have from the Great Wall.

The grounds around one of the thirteen Ming Tombs. Thirteen emperors and their empresses are buried in the area, but only a few of the tombs were open when we were there.

The grounds of the Ding Ling Temple outside Beijing. Not quite as cool as the Lama Temple as far as the temple itself goes, but it's up in the mountains so the area is very nice.

Outside the Ding Ling temple we went to visit a "typical" Chinese farm. This is the farmer and his son with Brian and I.

Several shots from the Summer Palace. This is where I nearly killed myself and a few dozen unsuspecting Chinese by exceeding the max weight the ice on the lake could handle.
